Glynco,
Georgia Federal Law Enforcement Training Center - Intermodal Training Facility Media: Architectural Rendering An exterior rendering of the building and site was developed using a combination of Autocad drawings and Autodesk Revit data. A scene was composed showing the facility during an active training session, with mock raids being staged on various perminantly housed vehicles, including busses, cars, trains and an airliner. This project required extensive modifications to standard vehicle 3D models to make them representitave of the actual equipment to be used at his location. |

Barksdale
Air Force Base, Louisiana Integrated Operations Center Media: Architectural Video, Architectural Rendering The design for this project converts WWII aircraft hanger into an operations command and control and briefing facility. The project site is located in a densely built-up area on base flight line, so the development of the environment for this video included construction of most of the Air Force base, including runways, roads, and existing buildings and vegetation. Base location and site orientation are established via a combination of animated satellite photography from Google Earth, and development of a visual story line in which a government VIP travels to the base on a small military transport jet, lands and taxis up to the project building, and exits the plane directly in front of the airfield entrance to the structure. High altitude camera orbits and street level sequences also show how the exterior modifications to this historic structure maintain the look and feel of the original design and fit in with the surrounding structures. Moody Air Force Base, Georgia FY-08 120 Person BRAC Dormitory Media: Architectural Rendering This project designed a three-story facility consisting of five buildings connected by three story covered walkways at each floor. There are two dormitory wings and one central Commons Building located between the two wings. Each of the two dormitory wings consists of two individual dormitory buildings totaling four dormitory buildings. Three exterior, open-air stairways provide access to the covered walkways at the second and third floors of the dormitory wings. An exterior rendering of the front of the building was developed based on Autocad drawings. |

Shaw Air Force Base, South
Carolina F-35 Flight Simulator Facility and Corrosion Control Facility Media: Concept Video This concept project provided a proposed design for 2 new buildings along Shaw Air Force Base's flight line to support the upcoming addition of F-35 Lightning II (Joint Strike Fighter) squadrons to the base. These new planes will require specialized support buildings for maintenance and training activities. The Flight Simulator Building will house the equipment and infrastructure needed for out-of-plane electronic training for the F-35 pilots, and the Corrosion Control Facility will provide dedicated hangar space and equipment storage for maintenace of the exterior surfaces of the plane's fuselage. This video project started as 2 separate tasks, but was combined due to the similarity of the subject matter. Highly detailed models of the interior and exterior of both buildings were developed for the animation, including representations of typical, although intentially not exact, flight simulator hardware and associated electroincs equipment. Animated 3D Air Force humans were custom modeled and included in the interior scenes to depict typical use of the facilities. Live stock video of the F-35 plane in flight was also included to help tell the story of the project. Final video included background music and in-house narration. |

Station, Patuxent River, Maryland Hangar 305 Media: Architectural Rendering Proposal rendering of modifications and additions to an existing aircraft hangar. The existing hangar was built during World War II, and is being updated and modified to be capable of supporting maintenance activities for the US Navy's new P-8 Poseiden aircraft. The P-8 is based on the Boeing 737 airframe, and is too long for 2 planes to be housed in the hangar length-wise at the same time. An aerial rendering of the hangar was developed to show modifications and additions to the rest of the building, as well as provide site and environment context. |

A new hangar door system was designed to accomodate the height of the plane's vertical stabilizer, and features a, aperature in the middle, so the doors may close around the fuselage and allow the tail of the plane to remain outside in a double loaded situation, while keeping a barrier to the elements for the interior maintenance area. An exterior rendering of the new hangar door design was developed, illustrating how they will close around the plane's fuselage. |

Station, Patuxent River, Maryland Building P-156: Hawkeye Flight Test & Evaluation Facility Media: Architectural Rendering The new Aircraft Flight Test and Evaluation Facility will consolidate the research, development, testing and evaluation functions of the E2 and C2 aircraft flight test operations into one location. In the future this building will also house the Network Centric Warfare teams. The overall intent of the architectural design for this project is to emulate the character of the 2185 Research Building across Tate Road to the northeast, reinforcing the creation of a unified architectural character for this class of structure and area of the base. The new two story building will have a structural steel frame with composite metal panels. The panels will be finished in color and texture to match the finish on Building 2185. The joint pattern will be proportioned to emulate the same panel pattern. An exterior rendering of the front of the building was developed from Autodesk Revit data, and several color options for the metal wall panels were explored. |
